Your Lip Lift Surgery

When performed on its own, a lip lift can be performed in the office under local anesthetic. If other procedures such as a facelift or browlift surgery are done at the same time, the patient will be given anesthesia to ensure that they are comfortable and pain-free during the procedure. Dr. Gal will make incisions at the base of the nose to remove a small amount of skin and lift the upper lip. This can be done using a variety of techniques, including the bullhorn or gull wing techniques, depending on the patient’s individual needs.

Recovery After Your Lip Lift Procedure

After your surgery, your lip lift incision will be swollen for about 10-14 days and typically recovery is quite easy. You will, however, need to follow certain post-operative protocols. You should avoid over stressing the incision (i.e. excessive chewing or exaggerated mouth movements) and sleep with the head of bed slightly elevated to reduce swelling. After about two weeks, you may resume your regular activities and conceal your scar with makeup.
